Pohjalevyn alaosan suojakerros on suunniteltu pitämään pohjalevyn alaisen ihoalueen terveenä. Se varmistaa pysyvän kiinnityksen ja ehkäisee avannetta ympäröivän ihon maseroitumista.

Terve iho on hyvinvoinnin perusta
Avannetta ympäröivän ihon ihovauriot ovat ylimääräinen rasite, jonka kokee lähes puolet avanneleikatuista**. Valtaosa iho-ongelmista johtuu kosketusihottumasta joka puolestaan aiheutuu ohivuodoista, jolloin avanne-erite pääsee vahingoittamaan ihoa tai pohjalevyn irrottamisesta johtuvasta mekaanisesta vauriosta.*
